TLC for your Face

I am by no means a beauty product pro – only recently I’ve developed an insane interest in facial skin care (Forever Young, amiright?)  BUT, I love what I use and I’ve decided to feature what exact facial skin care products I am most loyal to.  Skin care has developed into a top priority in my life, and I’m attempting to run AS FAST AS POSSIBLE away from fine lines and wrinkles.  Humble brag warning, I frequently am told that I look much younger than I actually am.  In my 30s, this is a WELCOME mistake.  My spirit celebrity is definitely Jennifer Aniston and I pray that I can look as good as her when I’m over 40.

Outside of  product use, protecting my face from the sun is probably my #1 priority. Now, I obviously LOVE being outdoors, so sometimes just staying out of the sun isn’t an option. So, not included in this list, but just as important, are sunscreens with SPF 50 (if out sporting) or BB/CC cream with at least SPF 20 (if out being fabulous).  ALSO, sunnies.  I mean, I would probably wear sunglasses at night too because I have a very unhealthy obsession with them, but sunglasses are a great way to protect the sensitive skin around the eyes.

So for the long awaited list (and in this case, no particular order):

Korres Greek Yoghurt Advanced Nourishing Sleeping Facial

It took me a while to get on the night cream train. There was something that just seemed “old” to me about using a night cream.  The only people that I knew using night creams, even just five years ago, were middle aged + women. But after educating myself, I was swayed to give it a shot to help keep my skin looking young. I have tried several different creams, and so far, this is my favorite.  This cream goes on smooth and light and I wake up with my face feeling so soft and smooth.

Yes To Miracle Oil Calm & Soothe Primrose Oil Mud Mask

I have been really lucky and mostly have good skin. However, my biggest problem is redness in my face (my cheeks and nose can sometimes look like they’ve been caught in a sandstorm).  This mud mask helps tame the redness and really soothe my skin.  This is especially helpful after an active weekend outside or any time I have been enjoying food or drink that isn’t so nice to your skin’s hydration.  I’ve only been able to find it in the individual pouches, but I never use more than half on one application, so I just save the rest in a ziploc!

Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed

Clarins everything.  This is their gentle foaming cleanser that is so soft and sudsy on the skin.  I also love their exfoliating cleanser as well.  I use my Clarisonic with this cleanser, but it also works so well with just your hands!  It feels so good going onto the face and helps my skin feel so refreshed!

Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores

I have a love/hate relationship with charcoal masks. BUT they make such a difference to my face, they MUST be included.  I love how they make my skin look – reducing pore size, improve dark marks on my skin.  I do not love how they feel on the skin, especially drying, but I know that is just the mask doing its due diligence. I use a charcoal mask about once a week, for skin improvement, and for entertainment as it really freaks my dog out (insert cry-laugh emoji).

Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes with White Tea Extract

Everyone has lazy moments, right?  These wipes are my favorite lazy hack.  I have turned into a complete crazy person about taking my makeup off at night.  Sometimes, I’m just too tired to go through the whole wash face process.  Insert: face wipe.  These are the best I’ve found at completely taking the make up off with just one wipe and not having to “scrub” the face down.  Also, Burt’s Bees is local to NC, so extra points!

What you NEED from Zara Fall 2017

I’m currently crushing on EVERYTHING from Zara.  I’m trying to figure out how I can justify buying everything on their website right now.  What I love about Zara is their fashion forward, runway looking styles for (mostly) a reasonable price.  I am going to Italy in a few months and am definitely using that as a worthy excuse to spend a little extra on my cool weather wardrobe this year.

Another thing I always pay attention to with online shopping is a retailer’s return/exchange policies.  I much more hard pressed to spend money on a trendy item if I cannot return it.  Trendy items can look amazing online and on the models, and then they get to my little 5’3 frame and I look rather silly.  Luckily Zara has a full refund return policy (as long as items are returned in a certain amount of time).

The old saying (is it a saying? or is it a commercial that has phased into my psyche?) “if you can’t stop thinking about it, buy it!” definitely came to fruition last week.  One of the items on the list, I kept thinking about, imagining in different outfit situations.  I went to the Zara website and almost had a heart attack because I couldn’t find it one evening, thinking that it had sold out.  I took this as a sign that I should probably just close my eyes, enter my credit card information, and get the coat.  I’m super excited I did.  Online ordering is like getting presents at Christmas.  You have a nice little box waiting for you to unwrap.  Just train yourself to forget you paid for it.

Okay, so MY favorite 5 items at Zara right now ARE

Faux Suede Coat – Mustard

ZARA yellow

This is actually the coat I couldn’t stop thinking about.  It is very light and Fall appropriate.  Pair with jeans or other dark trousers.  I plan on pairing with a bold colored top, but clearly a dark top works quite well.  This jacket is basically screaming “YAY FALL!”

Embroidered Velvet Jacket

ZARA velvet

This jacket for some reason reminds me of Alice in Wonderland.  I think its the embroidery design. But I love LOVE this jacket.  In my dreams, I have it paired with a faux black leather leggings or a skirt.  If its a skirt, then over the knee boots.  If its leggings, then metallic pumps (insert heart eyes emoji)

Bejewelled Satin High Heel Ankle Boot

ZARA shoe

Aren’t these the COOLEST.  I mean, they have to be the star of your outfit’s show. And they are definitely deserving of the spotlight.

Silver Metallic Dress

ZARA metallic

Metallic is IN and I’m ALL BOUT IT BOUT IT.  I love this dress – the metallic makes it a show stopper, but the long sleeve shift cut makes it not too over the top.  AND the shift isn’t plain and boring, it has a nice added detail in the waist.  I’d love a velvet over the knee boot with this dress, thank you in advance to my guardian clothing angel!

Embroidered Faux Suede Top

ZARA top

Can you tell I am loving embroidery and suede? Suede feels good, embroidery looks good.  This top has a lot going on, so it would be easy to style with a pair of black jeans or leggings.  Super FALL and wearable for a nice day outing!
